All with a French flair & beautiful chocolate, red, pink & champagne tones….This layout was made in Paint Shop Pro X and I used various blending modes to achieve a sepia look for the photo and all of the elements. The alphabet comes in a rich red color but after changing the blend mode to luminance, I was able to give it a softer and more aged look. There are so many exciting pieces in this kit and it is my first new release in awhile. I hope you enjoy it!As always, if you would like to share your layouts with me for inclusion on my website and blog features, please contact me.Celebrate Life!LisaScrapbook Art Project How-To ~ Easter Egg GarlandAfter reading the current issue of Creating Keepsakes (March 2008 in full - I just couldn’t put it down!!!), I found this adorable idea for an Easter Egg Garland made from wooden shapes (in this case a football shape). Here are the ingredients for this project: 16 wooden football/egg shapes (mine are from Michael’s) 4-5 sheets of scrapbook paper (I used scraps in spring colors from random companies) 9 yards of spring ribbon Alphabet stickers or stamps (to spell Happy Easter) Sandpaper & Ink square (I used Around the Block Antique tool in red - one of my favorite tools!) Purple gel pen (to outline the alphabet stickers) Crop-a-Dile (to punch holes in the wooden eggs) Modge Podge Matte Cross Metal Accent Adhesive First adhere your egg onto a sheet of paper, placed upside down. This way you can cut the egg out of the paper, rather than trace & cut. This saves tons of time! Cut out all of your eggs (don’t worry about being perfect - you will be sanding the edges next). Next sand & ink all the edges of your eggs. After you ink the edges, allow them to dry a few minutes before handling them. Next, line up your garland in the order you would like to see the patterns so that you do not end up with any matching papers next to one another. Add the alphabet stickers or stamps or other embellishments. Outline stickers with gel pen in contrasting color to make them stand out. Paint eggs with Modge Podge to seal & protect. Punch holes into the sides of each egg with the Crop-a-Dile tool or another heavy duty hole punch. Cut ribbons into 4″ lengths and tie eggs together. Hang & enjoy this beautiful Easter season! LOL of course some days that feels like 12 years and other days it feels like a few months. We have had some challenges and tribulations (as all couples do) and those times have made our marriage stronger and we thank God for that each day!
The song I journaled in the background is Always On Your Side by Sting & Cheryl Crow
Digital Scrapbooking - How to BeginDigital Scrapbooking - How to Begin To begin the series on digital scrapbooking, here is a list of some necessary tools you will need to start your digital layouts. 1) A computer with at least 256 mb RAM. You do not neccesarily need huge amounts of memory but you will need space on your pc in order to open up some images that are quite large in size. One 12×12 digital paper file can be 1-2 mb depending on the dpi (which is the quality of the image). Some complete digital scrapbooking kits can be between 10-12mb in size and I suggest you open what you need and keep the rest of the graphics closed until you do. 2) A digital image editing program such as Corel© Paint Shop Pro, Adobe Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, Ulead PhotoImpact or a digital scrapbooking program. You can find the trial versions of these programs at their respective websites. 3) Digital photographs. You can either upload your images from your digital camera, get a photo disc made where you have your 35mm film developed or scan images into your pc. Optional: 5) Photo Printer & Paper. You can purchase a 12×12 printer specifically for printing out 12×12 layouts or you can opt to print out the layouts on 8-1/2×11 sheets. Whichever size you decide to use, be sure to keep that in mind when you are creating your pages in your digital image editing program. |
